Open Question: Chicago Italian Restaurants Recommendations?

I live in Southern Illinois and have never been to chicago, basically if you live down here you are raised to dislike chicago. But ive always wanted to go, i hear its expensive, so please recommend nice hotels, GREAT hidden restaurants, all the things locals or people who go often would know.
